The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a motivated individual with a passion for helping others to join our Communications team as a Communications & Marketing Specialist.
The Communications & Marketing Specialist is responsible for creating, managing, and delivering impactful communication and marketing strategies. This position involves producing engaging content for social media, websites, newsletters, and print materials while ensuring alignment with the organization's brand. The role also includes designing flyers, newspaper ads, and other promotional materials, as well as capturing and editing photography at various events, including evenings and weekends. This position is expected to be 100% onsite.
Key Responsibilities :
- Content Creation : Develop and produce engaging content for social media, websites, newsletters, and other communication channels. Capture and edit high-quality photographs to support visual storytelling.
- Social Media Management : Manage and grow the organization's social media presence, including creating content calendars, monitoring engagement, and analyzing performance metrics. Utilize photography to enhance social media content.
- Campaign Coordination : Assist in planning and executing development and marketing campaigns. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and brand guidelines.
- Photography : Capture compelling images at various events, including evenings and weekends, for promotional materials and organizational needs. Edit and curate photos for use across multiple media channels.
- Design and Layout : Create and design visually appealing flyers, newspaper ads, and other promotional materials to support various programs and initiatives, ensuring consistency with the organization's branding.
- Event Attendance : Attend various events on weekday evenings and weekends as needed to support communications efforts, including photography, social media updates.
- Analytics and Reporting : Track and analyze media coverage, social media performance, and other communication metrics. Provide regular reports and insights to improve strategy.
- Collaborative Projects : Work closely with internal teams, including Head Start, housing, public safety, and workforce development, to create cohesive communication strategies.
