Urban Property Management, a full-service property management firm founded in 1983 and focusing exclusively on the management of condominium associations, is seeking an Accountant. This person is responsible for the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of properties. The Accountant will work with the Accounting Team and Property Managers on monthly financial reports, variance analysis and budgeting. The ideal candidate will have a high degree of personal integrity and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Reconcile bank statements
- Prepare journal entries
- Complete the month-end close
- Prepare monthly financial statements including variance analysis
- Prepare annual operating budgets, analyze historic costs and project future cost trends
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records for multiple properties
- Interpret financial reports to provide insights into property performance
- Collaborate with Property Managers to ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures
- Communicate with property owners, Board members, vendors, real estate agents, attorneys and others to resolve issues and answer questions
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in Accounting preferred
Experience as an Accountant or in a similar role within property management
Working knowledge of GAAP and accrual accounting principals
Real estate experience or a passion for real estate
Working knowledge of Excel and Word
Effective communication skills both verbal and written
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
A positive attitude and high degree of professionalism
Working Conditions:
100% in-office, South End, Boston, MA (no remote work).

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
