We are an inpatient substance abuse treatment program seeking a phlebotomist responsible for identifying the best method for retrieving specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing screening procedures for all patients.

Morning Shift 9:00a-5:00p
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collect blood samples from all incoming inpatient clients.
- Complete vital-signs and urine toxicology for incoming clients and upload information/results to their electronic medical record (EMR).
- Upload all labs into each client’s medical record for all urine and blood work results.
- Assure the filing of essential clinical/medical/labs documentation are uploaded to EMR in a timely manner.
- Inform medical staff of lab test results.
- Enter new patients to EMR (KIPU), ChemPlus, Quest, etc. as needed.
- Practice proper patient identification, label vials with patient names and dates.
- Decipher the best method for drawing blood depending on the specific patient.
- Practice infection control standards at all times when working with patients and equipment.
- Dispose of contaminated sharps, in accordance with applicable laws, standards, and policies.
- Gather all sharps and place in allocated area the day before for pick-up by disposal company.
- Document route of specimens from collection to laboratory analysis.
