JOB SUMMARY :
The Assistant Controller will assist with financial operations and ensure regulatory compliance. This role involves supporting the Controller in overseeing financial activities, including budget creation, cash flow monitoring, and providing strategic financial guidance to the leadership team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in non-profit financial management, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to the organization's mission.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present accurate financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, to the executive team and the Board of Directors.
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger maintenance.
- Oversee budget planning and forecasting processes in collaboration with program managers and department heads.
- Monitor cash flow, investment activities, and financial performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate annual audits and tax filings, ensuring timely submission and compliance with all reporting obligations.
- Provide strategic financial analysis and guidance to support decision-making processes and long-term organizational sustainability.
- Collaborate with development and fundraising teams to track and report on grant funds, donations, and restricted funds.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices in non-profit financial management and recommend adjustments to policies and procedures as needed.
- Supporting and promoting the development of the USI CDFI client base.
