EXPERIENCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with certification as a licensed professional in architecture or interior design considered a plus. Candidates should have a strong background in all phases of architectural practice, including schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration, as well as related engineering disciplines. Responsibilities include presenting directly to clients on technical and design solutions and collaborating closely with project managers to execute project plans. The role may also involve specialized expertise in areas such as medical or lab planning.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR DIRECTING OTHERS
This role involves supervising design and drafting activities throughout schematic design, design development, and construction document phases. On larger projects, the candidate will interface with senior project staff for input on design and construction documents and may also assist with cost estimates and specifications. Collaboration with the project manager is essential to ensure projects stay on budget and schedule, while appropriately utilizing the technical team.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assisting in developing or reviewing project functional and space programs.
- Directing the creation of design concepts and preparation of presentation materials.
- Approving materials, colors, and finishes.
- Overseeing site analysis and site design activities.
- Coordinating with other disciplines and integrating their input into project designs.
- Leading the development of design development packages, including interior design.
- Reviewing zoning and code analysis and directing the preparation of construction documents.
- Managing technical staff and approving timesheets while ensuring overtime is pre-approved.
- Coordinating consultants and specifications, checking documents, and approving samples.
- Administering construction contracts, preparing reports, and overseeing construction-related changes.
- Facilitating client presentations, proposal requests, and other project documentation.
