TITLE: Adult Education Program Assistant
LOCATION: Urbana Adult Education Center
SUPERVISOR: Director of Adult Education
JOB SUMMARY: The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the director and other staff with tasks related to the coordination and implementation of all of the programs at Urbana Adult Education Center (e.g. CNA, ESL, HS Diploma, etc.); Assist in running the Assessment Center; provide front desk coverage; assist with office and classroom related paperwork and tasks; assist with the assessment, registration, and orientation processes; substitute in classrooms, as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Greet, direct, and check-in students, staff, and visitors
- Answer program inquiries by phone, in person, etc.
- Assist with HS Diploma, ESL and CNA registration, orientation, graduation, and data collection
- Review, organize, input, and analyze programmatic data
- Assist with office related tasks (make copies, assemble student IDs, distribute information, create flyers, maintain bus token inventory, maintain sign-in/sign-out forms, etc.)
- Assist with student supervision and/or tutoring, as needed.
- Substitute in classrooms, as needed.
- Proctor all tests administered by Urbana Adult Education, including standardized tests and course exams.
- Coordinate special events
- Assist with student retention efforts
- Assist with grading of homework and tests
- Assist with facility aesthetics (bulletin boards, cleanliness, etc.)
- Assist with special projects, as determined by the director
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree, preferred; experience working with young adults from various backgrounds, preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be highly organized with the ability to multitask and meet project deadlines
- Must have strong customer service skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively and collaborate with all staff, students, community members, and other stakeholders
- Knowledge of technology, including Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Classroom, Google Sheets, Google Forms, Video Conferencing platforms
- Ability to build rapport with youth of diverse backgrounds
- Once trained, must be able to problem-solve, take initiative, and work independently.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Full-time employment; 210 day calendar; Monday-Friday (includes 10 paid holidays)
- Average of 8 hours per day (plus one-hour unpaid lunch break); 40 hours/week; evening hours required.
- This is a NON-EXEMPT, non-bargaining unit, non-administrative position.
- $29.00-$34.00/hour; commensurate with experience and education
