TITLE: CASE Educational Audiologist
LOCATION: CASE Audiology Office (based in Champaign Schools Early Childhood Center)
SUPERVISOR: Executive Director of Student Services and/or their designee
JOB SUMMARY: The Educational Audiologist provides educational audiology services to students in participating districts and special education cooperatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
Diagnostics:
- Conduct comprehensive initial audiological assessment (using specific audiometric measures appropriate to the child’s needs and status) for each child who is referred, as well as any necessary follow-up evaluations.
- Discuss test findings and recommendations as appropriate with parents/guardians of each child evaluated.
- Develop an audiological summary of testing and make recommendations, based on test results, to be shared with the school and any appropriate medical facilities or other agencies.
Classroom Amplification:
- Advise school administrators and educators regarding the selection and purchase of auditory training equipment and be responsible for the electroacoustic evaluation of such equipment once it is place in the classroom.
- Make earmold impressions for use with auditory training equipment and teach earmold care to staff and students.
- Assess and monitor classroom acoustics and the proper use of amplifying equipment.
- Perform regularly scheduled equipment checks of FM equipment.
Aural Rehabilitation:
- Participate in the development of and implementation of aural rehabilitation programs.
Team Membership:
- Participate in all aspects of the Educational and Audiological Review (EAR) team.
- Participate in interagency teaming as appropriate with individual children or general program development.
Interfacing with Coworkers:
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers.
Interfacing with the Schools:
- Conduct inservice sessions for teachers and other staff members on such topics as microphone technique, amplification of hearing loss, and management strategies for hearing-impaired students.
- Participate in eligibility, placement, and determination of services conferences as requested.
- Provide consultation to teachers in the region as requested.
- Implement hearing conservation programs.
Interfacing with the Community:
- Work with community agencies as necessary for the provision of medical care, amplification, and educational programming.
- Participate in out-patient programs as appropriate in terms of community needs as time permits.
- Make medical referrals as necessary and collaborate with area hearing and medical professionals.
Professional Growth and Development:
- Maintain membership in professional associations and participate in professional workshops, seminars or conventions to keep aware of new developments in special education and audiology.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree in audiology; be able to meet the requirements for Clinical Certification of Competence in Audiology as prescribed by the American Speech and Hearing Association; Hold or meet eligibility requirements for certification and licensure in accordance with Illinois laws.
Experience: Two years of experience as an audiologist preferred including experience as an educational audiologist.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Salary Range of $24,000-$32,000 dependent on education level and experience
- Ten-month position; 0.4 FTE position, 2 days a week
- District-level, non-administrative, non-union position
