JOB TITLE: Summer School High School Administrator

JOB SUMMARY: The Urbana High School Summer School Principal provides transformational educational leadership with a focus on equity to promote educational development for all students and the professional development of each staff member. Responsibilities include implementing a high-quality summer program for students and building a positive school climate during the summer. Candidates should have outstanding skills in student and family engagement, leadership for equity, professional development, and community partnerships.

- Demonstrate strong leadership skills in supporting high student outcomes and educational excellence.
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge of instructional programming.
- Articulate a clear vision for the needs of students and the school, focusing on student outcomes through a lens of racial equity.
- Demonstrate exceptional communication skills to support school and district goals and foster positive relationships throughout the school community.
- Assist in the planning, implementing, and evaluating the summer school program.
- Provide input into the summer program’s master schedule and planned activities.
- Supervise and monitor students in the program to ensure safety and efficiency.
- Supervise and support the instructional needs of teaching staff during the summer program.
- Supervise support staff members during the summer school program (i.e., teaching assistants, clerical/office staff, or student relations supervisors).
- Demonstrate knowledge of and effective use of technology in instruction, management, and communication.
- Create an environment where teachers, support staff, and students achieve mutual understanding, high morale, and the best working conditions.
- Manage all summer assessment data, pre- or post-data collected, in accordance with all privacy acts and district policy.
- Provide input into and monitor the summer school programming budget process to ensure adequate funding for the summer school program.
- Helps prepare the summer school budget within established limits and apportions that budget to various school programs.
- Monitors and supervises all expenditures.
- Establish good relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Take all necessary precautions to ensure students' and staff members' safety, health, and well-being, including following emergency plans during the summer school program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, with training in administration, supervision, or curriculum development at the secondary level
- Five years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level
- Three years of successful administrative or teacher leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience in building an inclusive and equity-oriented school culture
- Illinois Licensure with Administrative Endorsement
- A current USD116 employee, not assigned to an administrative position during the 24-25 school year

- Knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction at the secondary level
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

- Salary Rate is $52/hour
- This is not an exempt position.
- This is a summer-only position, not in the collective bargaining unit, and it is an administrative position for the summer.
- This position may be shared between two people for the program dates described above.
START DATE: Summer Program Session1 will start on June 9 and end on June 26, Monday through Thursday 8:00-1:00. Session 2 will start on June 30 and end on July 17, Monday through Thursday 8:00-1:00.
