PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provides administrative structure to the secondary activities program through effective organization, communication and leadership.

- Education:
- Masters Degree required.
- Certification/Licensure:
- Iowa Administration Certification required or Activities Administrator Authorization with Evaluator Approval License required.
- Experience:
- Progressive leadership and management experience in the Field of Education to include administration, teaching and/or coaching.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Supervise and coordinate the 7-12 activities program, to include Athletics and the Performing Arts.
- Coordinate the staffing for the activities program, including interviewing candidates for coaching and activity sponsor positions. Make recommendations to the Director of Human Resources for additions, deletions and changes as necessary; including recommendations for extra duty pay schedules for coaches and other activity sponsors.
- Prepare and coordinate consistent eligibility rules for all students in Athletics and the Performing Arts as well as other information in the district approved Activities Handbook distributed to all students.
- Administer all aspects of Board Policy 510 – the Co-Curricular Eligibility Code.
- Develop the necessary forms to support all programs.
- Approves and schedules all requests for transportation.
- Cooperates and collaborates with the Building and Grounds Department in proper maintenance of facilities used for student activities.
- Assumes responsibility for liaison with other schools, school districts, athletic and activity associations, leagues and conferences.
- Is a member of the District Administrative Team and is expected to attend team meetings unless otherwise excused by the superintendent or his/her designee.
- Supervises all ticket sale events connected with the Athletic and Performing Arts programs and assumes responsibility for proper handling and accounting of monies involved.
- Provides for the physical examination of all athletes prior to participation.
- Keeps records of the results of all athletic contests and maintains a record file of all award winners stating the date and type of award.
- Plans and supervises annual recognition programs for school activities.
- Prepare, administer and provide budgets for the various activities in cooperation with the District Business Office.
- Approve requisitions for needed equipment and supplies in conjunction with the Principals and the District Business Office.
- Prepare and administer the Athletic and Performing Arts program budgets, in cooperation with the District Business Office.
- Act as liaison to the Urbandale Boosters, Inc. on all issues
- Coordinates, schedules and oversees district facilities usage.
- Responsible for the operation of the Activities Website – www.j-hawks.com.
- Plans and coordinates internal and external scheduling issues related to practice and contests.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:

- All Athletic and Activities department employees and coaches
- Provide input to building administrators regarding supervision and evaluation of Performing Arts programs and staff.
- Coordinates and provides supervision at practices, events, and activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Satisfactory health as certified by a competent medical authority.
- Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking, bending, stooping and lifting weight up to 50 lbs.
- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol free while working.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Able to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Majority of work done in a school or office setting.
- Extensive travel both in and out of the School District as required.
- Weekend and evening hours are required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- At-will employee
- 12 Month Position
- Per Board Policies and administrative guidelines.
- Performance evaluated annually.
