JOB TITLE: Media Associate
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Under general supervision, assists the Media Specialist with the maintenance of the school’s computer systems and audio visual equipment; assists students and faculty with questions or problems regarding the media center; maintains an accurate inventory of all books, videos, cassettes, audio visual and computer equipment and keeps track via computer check out of who has borrowed such equipment at all times; maintains a list of requested materials and supplies needed and with the consent of the Media Specialist, orders these materials.
Beginning Pay Rate: $17.81/hr
28.75 hours per week
This is a part-time position and is not eligible for health insurance benefits.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment including computer, printer, ten-key calculator, copy machine, telephone, etc.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to interact in a positive manner with students, faculty, parents and other staff members.
Education
- High School Diploma required
Experience
- Knowledge of children's literature preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite/Google Suite
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Responsible for the circulation of media center items to students and staff.
- Assist students and teachers with the various services provided by the media center including: assistance with the computerized card catalog, finding print resources, and online services.
- Assist with locations of reference materials and recommend additional or alternative sources.
- Scan barcodes to check books in and out.
- Reshelf books by category.
- Check status and reserve books when requested.
- Repair damaged books.
- Track down overdue materials.
- Pull materials for teachers for topic studies and daily lessons.
- Start up and shut down computer network and workstations in the computer lab daily.
- Assist students and staff in the computer lab with both hardware and software problems.
- Assist the Media Specialist with the maintenance of the computer network and workstations.
- Run all required or requested reports (i.e. circulation, overdue materials, etc.)
- Setup, inspect and maintain audio video equipment.
- Identify problems and repair in-house if possible, if not, send out for repair.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all audio video equipment.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.
- Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.
- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
- Occasional meetings outside the school day.
- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.
Salary : $18
