About the Role
Urbandale Health Care Center is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This role involves performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair facility structures, including walls, baseboards, doors, ceilings, windows, and mirrors.
- Assist with light grounds maintenance, including cutting, trimming, sweeping, and policing parking areas and driveways.
- Follow a maintenance schedule and instructions from supervisors in line with established policies and procedures.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, mechanical equipment, and other facility needs.
- Move and arrange furniture as necessary to complete assignments.
- Replace light bulbs and maintain operational safety, including exit lights and overhead lights.
- Assist with the Preventative Maintenance Program to ensure proper functioning of machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate daily maintenance tasks with nursing services, especially in resident living areas.
- Respond to unscheduled or emergency maintenance needs, including on-call responsibilities for weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with cleaning materials, tools, and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
