Summary

To provide and enhance Urenco’s project assurance capabilities across a global footprint stretching over four operational sites and a number of business activities. Embedded within Design Authority, the Project and Portfolio Assurer provides assurance in the delivery of capital projects.
The Lead Project Assurance Specialist is to execute the annual assurance plan, contribute to continuous improvement throughout the organization, serve as a governance subject matter expert in terms of capital project delivery, and help to promote industry-leading practice of the delivery of capital projects.
The Lead Project Assurance Specialist will supervise Project Assurance Analyst(s), 3-5 direct reports.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in project management, construction management, or a related field
  • Project Management Qualification/Accreditation such as PMP, PMI, or APM
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience being fully accountable and actively leading EPC projects (or in an owner role) as a Project Manager, Contract Manager, Project Controls Lead, or Project Engineer

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An MBA in project management, construction management, or other related field
  • Demonstrable experience across the entire project lifecycle, from concept development to hand-over

Job Details

  • Work Location: Eunice, NM
  • Work Schedule: Professional work schedule with minimal night/weekend support. Some nights and weekend work may be required. Employees are also subject to call-outs as needed.
  • Travel Required: 20% of the time or less as required.
  • Security Clearance Requirement: CAA Access and an L or Q level security clearance
  • Emergency Response Requirements: Emergency Response Organization (ERO) duty will be required; including being on-call (24/7) during your designated team duty week.
  • Work Environment: Radiological exposure expectations of < 100 mrem/yr. General Office, Plant Production Areas. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

Essential Skills

  • Must have analytical skills with attention to detail specifically concerning data collation, analysis, and presentation.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across a wide and diverse audience.
  • Must have a professional level of competency with all Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint. Must be proficient in MS SharePoint.
  • Must have excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to respond to competing demands, changing priorities, and must be able to support a busy workload with multiple live projects.
  • Must be able to maintain working papers and documentation which lead to conclusions and underpins reports to various levels of management from business unit to C-Suite executives and track observations/findings of assurance reviews as part of the continuous improvement process.
  • Must have an understanding of project delivery and the project lifecycle, project controls as related to the delivery of capital projects, and various types of contracts.

Primary Functions

  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of Assurance Review outputs to assess project quality including safety, scope, cost, schedule, and Business benefits objectives. Communicate strategy, objectives, and benefits to business unit and group whilst also assuring the organizational strategy and business benefits are being achieved.
  • Actively lead the Project Assurance team which will report to the Lead Project Assurance Specialist to carry out the annual Project Assurance Plan; develop and update the annual Project Assurance Plan throughout the year.
  • Oversee a small team (3-5) to deliver the annual assurance plan.
  • Develop Project Assurance Team Members through training, mentoring, coaching, or other appropriate means.
  • Advise, consult, and provide feedback in the evolvement of the Group’s Project Delivery Strategy, aligned to deliver against the Group’s objectives and strategy across its capex portfolio.
  • Champion and educate Urenco stakeholders about the value of project assurance.
  • Independently assess that Urenco’s commercial position is robustly protected through the application of industry best practice in contracting strategies, supplier selection, procurement, and contract management.
  • Ensure assurance reviews are conducted in accordance with established methodology.
  • Be responsible for the quality of the delivery of the team, including reports or assurance review.
  • Where external support is utilized, lead, direct, and ensure external support delivers in accordance with the engagement plan.
  • Autonomously write reports for consumption of key project stakeholders, business lines, and executive consumption.
  • Working with Project Assurance Manager, develop KPIs to allow for determination of trends of project delivery (improving, not improving). Contribute to capturing of KPIs.
  • Maintain personal, functional, and organizational independence and objectivity.
  • Carry out Assurance action tracker analysis to develop thematic focus on assurance activities.
  • Perform trending analysis in preparation for reviews.
