Job Description
The LPN will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including greeting patients, activating patient files, and providing support to patients and medical staff. Our team members work a rotating 36-40 hour/week schedule, consisting of 12-hour weekday shifts and every-other weekend. Responsibilities:
- • Greet patients and prepare them for examination or procedure.• Record health history of patient and note abnormal conditions for physician. Instruct patient on collection of any necessary samples and tests. Obtain vital signs and escort patient to rooms.• Assist with preparation of supplies and equipment and aid physician or mid-level practitioner during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.• Give injections, administer prescribed medications as directed by physician and in accordance with nursing standards. Observe, record, and report patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.• Ensure that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely matter and forward charts as appropriate. Maintain patient files, records, and other information.• Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments. Arrange referrals to specialist and obtain pre-authorizations when directed to by provider.• Collect, document, and deliver lab specimens and obtain lab test results and other reports.• Notify patient of test results and follow-up appointments.• Clean and restock exam/treatment rooms between procedures.• Follow clinic policies for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.• Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment and discharge instructions.• Assist provider with physical exams and in preparing for physicals.• Contact pharmacy to order prescriptions and notify patients.• Keep accurate and up to date inventory of medications and monitor controlled substances.• Control inventory and monitor use of supplies.• Maintain up to date stock and monitor and maintain medical equipment.• Respond to and screen telephone calls for referral to nurse or physician.
