JOB SUMMARY
The Plant Operator is responsible for the continued safe and efficient operation of the Alta Mesa Plant. The primary function of this position is the operations of the ion exchange system, precipitation circuits, wastewater management circuit, and yellowcake handling processes. This position will require you to follow instructions and standard operating procedures as part of the normal function of this position.
The position will report directly to the Shift Foreman on a day-to-day basis. The position is a full-time position, and the schedule is for shift work requiring 3 on and 3 off shift cycles with day and night tours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clearly and legibly log all required plant information in plant shift notes that may include totalizer readings, lab analysis information on column changes, elutions, chemical makeup, precipitation efficiency, reverse osmosis plant, back washing sand filters, disposal well, filter press operations.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, Temporary Operating Procedures, Instructions and Safe Work Practices in the execution of the duties of the position.
- Monitor all plant operations and adjust as needed and/or directed by Shift Foreman.
- Properly use personal protective equipment gloves, safety glasses, rubber boots, coveralls, and respirators.
- Follow safety rules and procedures in all aspects of plant operations including radiation, chemical, and electrical safety.
- Perform lab analysis to determine solution concentrations – (e.g., uranium g/l or ppm, salt g/l, peroxide ppm, chlorides ppm, and carb-bicarbs).
- Accept individual responsibility and accountability for HSE processes within his/her control, his/her personal safety, and the safety of coworkers.
- Promptly correct or report potential workplace hazards and upset conditions.
- Keep plant areas clean at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:
- High School or GED or combination of training and experience.
- Use a computer and Microsoft programs for generating reports, monitoring plant and well-field conditions, and prepare well-field balance sheet. (training provided)
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Must be well organized.
- Excellent people skills.
- Must be able to work overtime, nights, weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Climb up and down stairs carrying load of 25 pounds.
- Work both day and night shifts 3 days on and 3 days off, alternate every 2 shifts from days to night.
- Work in changing weather conditions, indoors and outdoors.
- Stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Stoop, bend, kneel, reach, and crawl.
- Must pass pulmonary exam to wear respirators as job requires.
- Ability to enter confined spaces as the job requires.
