What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wellfield Operator position at URI INC?
JOB SUMMARY
The Wellfield Operator is responsible for the continued safe and efficient operation of the production and restoration wellfields at the Alta Mesa Project. This includes, but is not limited to, recording production well and restoration well data, collecting water samples, performing routine preventative maintenance. This position will require you to follow instructions and standard operating procedures as part of the normal function of this position.
The position will work with the Shift Foreman, Wellfield Balancer and Wellfield Engineer on a day-to-day basis while you directly report to Plant Superintendent. The position is a full-time position, and the schedule is for shift work (12 hours) requiring 3 on and 3 off shift cycles with day and night tours.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Operator will check flow rates on wells in well field and keeps wells on their projected flow targets. Adjust oxygen flowrates as required by well flow.
- Clearly and legibly log all required wellfield information and provide detailed records on field and equipment conditions including any repairs or maintenance performed.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance including but not limited to wells, meters, filter pods, distribution pipelines and manifolds.
- Communicate and coordinate with Shift Foreman to ensure efficient plant operation.
- Assist Shift Foreman with plant duties as needed (e.g. wash bags).
- Properly use personal protective equipment gloves, safety glasses, rubber boots, coveralls, and respirators.
- Follow safety rules and procedures in all aspects of operations including radiation, chemical, and electrical safety.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on wells and meter-run’s
- Follow the instructions of the balance sheet for the wellfield and report deviations thoroughly on shift notes.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures, Temporary Operating Procedures, Instructions and Safe Work Practices in the execution of the duties of the position.
- Perform well-field housekeeping at all times.
Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:
- High School or GED or combination of training and experience.
- Use a computer and Microsoft programs for generating reports, monitoring plant and well-field conditions, and prepare well-field balance sheet. (training provided)
- Must have a valid Texas driver's license and a good driving record.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Must be well organized.
- Excellent people skills.
- Must be able to work overtime, nights, weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
- Climb up and down stairs carrying load of 25 pounds.
- Work both day and night shifts 3 days on and 3 days off, alternate every 2 shifts from days to night.
- Work in changing weather conditions, indoors and outdoors.
- Stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Stoop, bend, kneel, reach, and crawl.
- Must pass pulmonary exam to wear respirators as job requires.
- Ability to enter confined spaces as the job requires.
