Description
URM Stores, Inc. is currently looking for an experienced Buyer to join our growing team! The ideal candidate for our Buyer position, has a minimum of 3 years buying experience in retail grocery and/or Wholesale Food Service.
Being a Buyer at URM, you’ll manage the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods, services, and related information from the point of origin to the point of sale in order to meet customer's requirements at the lowest landed cost. Our Buyers roll consists of ensuring proper inventory levels, inventory turns, department margins, service level, investment buying opportunities, forecasting and inbound logistics monitoring. The Key to success in this roll is the understanding of forecasting and urgency of perishable product and forward-looking exit strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Work to ensure company inventory, turns, SKU count, service level, allowance income and margin goals are met on assigned areas of responsibility.
- Field inquiries from customers, vendors, brokers and URM personnel in a timely teamwork environment.
- Implement and monitor all types of manufacturer allowances and in house accruals as necessary.
- Ensure adequate inventory is maintained to cover ad and promotional programs for all customers.
- Assist department manager as needed on projects, research, and analysis.
- Ensure accuracy of pricing.
- Work with Category Management and warehouse to manage and set up new items in a timely matter.
- Call on/audit/visit customers and competitors as needed.
- Continually work to improve the image of the procurement department to all customers, vendors, and brokers and within URM.
- Assist in Seasonal Shows.
- Attend Trade Shows as needed.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 3 years buying experience in retail grocery and/or Wholesale Food Service. Retail Grocery Management experience a plus.
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High customer relation skills are required.
- Must be able to develop customer relationships by listening to and understanding the customer.
- Requires the ability to anticipate and provide solutions to customer needs; ability to give high priority to customer satisfaction and deal tactfully and effectively with differences of opinion.
- Ability to get positive results in adverse situations; ability to maintain customer confidence and trust.
- Ability to be flexible in making self-available to respond to changing customer needs in order to prevent unnecessary delays in service.
- Knowledge of AS-400 or Himpact a bonus!
- Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
