We are seeking a Medical Assistant or CNA for a busy specialty medical office. This position is a PRN Monday-Friday position, there is a possibility this could turn into a full time position. Urology nursing is a specialty that focuses on conditions of the urinary tract, including a patient’s bladder, kidney, and urethra. A urology nurse cares for both men and women who have urological issues. The urology nurse performs urinary health exams, blood draws, catheterize patients, administers and educates about medication, and educates patients how to maintain and promote urinary health. You will be assisting in and performing in-office procedures such as Vasectomies, Cystoscopies and more.
Conditions: Work under stressful situations--irregular hours--volume of patients. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids, toxic substances. Operate specialized equipment and medicinal preparations.
Requirements: At least 2 years medical experience required. Full range of body motion, which may include handling and assisting of lifting of patients. Must be able to life and move objects that may weigh up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand or be on your feet for long periods of time.
Duties: Be familiar with sterile technique. Maintain competencies and tasks in routine care of Urology patients. Obtain and protect patient information always staying HIPAA compliant.
- Obtain: Blood Pressure; Blood draw; Basic Vitals; Urine Specimen (clean catch, cath specimen and leg bag specimen); Scan bladder for residual urine
- Administer: Injections; Instill the bladder with medication
- Place: Catheters (Male and Female; we will train for this)
- Prepare: Exam Rooms for patient care; Procedure Rooms for patient care (setting up Ultrasound, Setting up room for surgical procedures-Maintenance of sterile field ); Obtain signature from patient for permits (ABN's and consents for each procedure)
- Restore: Prepare exam rooms and procedure rooms for the next patient/next day of business.
- Document: Use Electronic Medical Record while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Determine reason for appointment and document patient's statements. Document--Urinalysis, Lab and/or test results, X-Ray reports, Vital Signs, Medications, Allergies, Previous/current Surgeries and Relevant medical history. Document and and all requests/orders by the provider. Document phone calls to/from the patients and phone calls to/from pharmacies.
You will maintain equipment in good working order and report any discrepancies to the lab supervisor and office manager. You will utilize clinic practices and guidelines in standardized procedures in collaboration with the physician or delegate.
