Job DescriptionThe Circulation Clerk runs the circulation desk, assists library patrons, and oversees decorum in the library when the Circulation Supervisor is not scheduled.Duties and Responsibilities
- Checking materials in and out using the integrated library system (ILS)
- Reshelving library books in strict Library of Congress order
- Straitening and tidying shelves
- Collecting fines by cash or card
- Copying / printing
- Assisting patrons in locating materials
- Explaining and enforcing the library rules
- Recording accounts of students who continue to disturb others in the library and Informing the Circulation Supervisor or Director of the Library
- Opening and closing the library
- Counting and recording cash on hand at the beginning of each shift
- Tidying the library, including straightening tables and chairs, picking up litter, and using the sweeper to clean up debris
- Assisting inventory as neededQualificationsQualifications
- Experience with computers, including Google and Microsoft software
- Familiarity with the Library of Congress classification system
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Customer service skills, including handling confrontation
- Familiarity with Urshan programs / classes preferred
