Position Summary:

We are seeking a Senior SQL Database Architect to lead the redesign and implementation of a scalable, high-performance database architecture. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in SQL Server, database scalability, and integration with microservices and AI-driven systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and analyze current SQL Server database architecture.

• Design and implement scalable database solutions to support 5M daily transactions.

• Develop data storage and archival strategies for hot, warm, and cold data (targeting 100TB).

• Collaborate with developers to ensure database design supports a microservices architecture.

• Optimize performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and resolving bottlenecks.

• Design for high availability and disaster recovery with near-zero RPO and RTO.

• Support DevOps teams with automation for deployment, backup, and monitoring.

• Implement data security and ensure industry-standard compliance.

• Mentor development and operations teams on database best practices.

• Stay current with SQL Server advancements and related technologies.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor s or Master s in Computer Science, IT, or related field.

• 9 years of experience with SQL Server database design, development, and administration.

• Proven experience redesigning and scaling large SQL Server databases (100TB ).

• Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and partitioning.

• Familiarity with microservices and integrating databases into distributed systems.

• Proficient in T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers.

• Experience with self-hosted SQL Server databases on VMs.

• Knowledge of database backup/recovery, migration, and disaster recovery strategies.

• Data modeling experience using tools such as ERwin or PowerDesigner.

• Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in tolling or transportation systems is a strong plus.

• Relevant SQL Server certifications.

• Familiarity with NoSQL and hybrid database solutions.

• Knowledge of AI-driven optimization and predictive analytics.

• Experience with ETL and data warehousing concepts.
