JOB TITLE : Senior Telecom Engineer

LOCATION : Atlanta, GA

DURATION : 6 months contract with possible extension

RATE RANGE : $45 / hr-$65 / hr

Summary :

The Senior Telecom Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and resolution of issues for all cable systems, including both data and voice networks. This role involves defining technical cable specifications, reviewing proposals, supervising installation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The candidate will be involved in the engineering, placing, splicing, and terminating fiber optic cables, as well as conducting various cable tests. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of telecom systems and cable design, with experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, and network synchronization.

Key Responsibilities :

• Design and engineer cable systems, including both data and voice components.
• Gather quotes for cable installations related to various projects.
• Supervise and guide both internal and external cable installers, ensuring quality and compliance with standards.
• Develop Statements of Work (SOW) for cable-related tasks.
• Perform Cable Moves, Adds, and Changes (MAC), including termination and testing of cables.
• Provide rapid response troubleshooting and repair services as needed.
• Generate and update network design drawings on electronic media.
• Ensure cable systems are in compliance with EIA / TIA industry standards using structured cabling techniques.
• Conduct tests using tools such as Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) and other cable testing and analytical tools.
• Manage the splicing, routing, and termination of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic cables.
• Interface and integrate with Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN), including technologies such as DWDM.

Requirements :

CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6, and CAT6e data cabling.
