JOB TITLE: Telecom Designer
LOCATION: Austin, TX
DURATION: 6 Month Contract to Hire
RATE: Market Rate
SUMMARY:
Our Telecom Designers work on various projects around the company. This position will play a critical role in the entire design process including preliminary assessments, concept creation, design, problem resolution, drawing and specification production, and construction administration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible to complete project assignments with minimal supervision as well as give directions to support staff to complete a project
- Ability to provide support to local projects, as well as assisting team members in other projects across the company
- Prepare drawing packages including site, floor plans, enlarged communication room layouts, equipment rack/cabinet layouts elevations, backbone schematic and infrastructure design details.
- Knowledge of Division 27 & 28 Systems specifications
- Prepare cable pathway fill calculations.
- Prepare opinions of probable costs.
- Coordinate the network infrastructure design with other engineering disciplines; civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, architectural and door locking hardware.
- Conduct field surveys/reports during programming, construction, and post-construction phases to ensure company best practices are maintained.
- Ensure conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction
- Work within a team environment to ensure standards are met and that all technology systems are incorporated into the overall system design
- Serve as a technical resource for others throughout the company
- Develop and design within a BIM design environment, Revit and Navisworks knowledge required
- Work with BIM modelers in design development and documentation
- Collaborate with the internal and external project team to execute the project from concept to completion including meeting attendance, site visits, response to RFIs, submittal review and responses
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field or experience in this field.
- Registered Communications Distribution Designer certification.
- 3 years of relevant experience as an RCDD or DCDC
- Fluent in Autodesk CAD (computer-aided drafting & design) programs including Revit, NavisWorks, AutoCAD is a plus.
- Deep understanding of communications system design.
