What You’ll Do:
- Ensure Safety: Supervise pool activities, enforce rules, and maintain a secure environment for all participants.
- Emergency Response: Act promptly in emergencies, performing rescues and administering first aid as necessary.
- Pool Maintenance: Keep the pool area clean and monitor water chemistry (don’t worry—we’ll teach you!).
- Team Collaboration: Communicate clearly with team members and clients about safety protocols and pool guidelines.
- Professional Representation: Wear your lifeguard uniform with pride and embody the urSwim culture.
What We’re Looking For:
Age Requirement: At least 17 years old by the start of employment.
Certifications:
- American Red Cross Basic Lifeguard Certification or a New York State Department of Health-approved equivalent.
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid Certification (valid and up-to-date).
- Nassau County Lifeguard Certification (valid and up-to-date).
In-Water Skills: Ability to perform the following for the Nassau County Lifeguard certification:
- Shallow Dive and Swim: Enter the pool with a shallow dive, then swim 50 yards freestyle in 35 seconds or less.
- Endurance Swim: Complete a continuous 200-yard freestyle swim within 3 minutes and 45 seconds.
- Rescue Techniques: Perform a 25-yard front surface approach, followed by a 25-yard cross-chest carry of a struggling victim.
- Escape Maneuvers: Demonstrate front and back head-hold escapes proficiently.
- Rescue Tube Drill: Conduct a 15-yard approach with a rescue tube, secure the victim, and return to the starting point.

Availability
- Commitment to a minimum of 24 hours per week, including some weekend shifts.
