The PEAK Field Procurement Specialist will be responsible for creating industry-leading cattle genetics through the external breeding program of PEAK Genetics. The PEAK Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing and acquiring elite dairy cattle genetics, focusing on Holstein males and females. This role involves negotiating purchases, managing breeder relationships, and ensuring all activities align with the PEAK program's genetic and financial goals. This position is an integral member of the PEAK team and will have a dynamic impact on the success of the PEAK genetic program.
Primary Responsibilities
- Execute the vision for PEAK’s external genetic program to achieve targeted genetic outcomes
- Establish and strengthen long-term relationships with key dairy cattle breeder herds to supply genetics to PEAK
- Promote PEAK Early Release Semen usage in breeder herds to create breed-leading cattle genetics
- Organize logistics of semen and trucking of purchased animals
- Work with the PEAK team to execute bull contracts, ensure prompt communication with breeder herds
- Negotiate and execute male, female and embryo purchases with a budget
- Proactively seek continuous improvement and innovation of work processes
- Display strong interest to seek new business approaches, partners, clients, and opportunities
Candidate Profile
Knowledge & Experience
- Passion for and in-depth knowledge of the cattle genetics and reproduction industry
- Strong understanding of IVF and ET practices
Skills & Competencies
- A strong team player that can effectively collaborate with PEAK team, contributing actively to group decision-making and project success
- Sound ability to establish and maintain long-term, productive relationships with breeders
- Skilled in negotiating favorable terms, pricing and ability to creatively problem-solve

Education
- Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in an Animal Science related discipline
