What are the responsibilities and job description for the PEAK - Livestock Specialist - Bull Handler position at URUS Group?
POSITION OBJECTIVE
PEAK has multiple openings for a Livestock Specialist in Shawano, Wis., to care for and handle sires in a manner to achieve maximum production levels.
Hours Available:
- Monday-Friday, 4:30am - 1:30pm, rotational weekends and holidays
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production
- Work in a system using established protocols
- Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks
- Operate company farm equipment and vehicles Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Comfortable working with large animals
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Ability to perform occasional planned weekend duties
- Capability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Capacity to work on feet and stand for long periods of time
- Willingness to learn and follow company protocols
Desired
- Previous livestock handling experience
- Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle
- Ability to perform basic equipment and building maintenance repairs
- Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field
