What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Safety Officer position at US AMR-Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, Inc.?
- Provides data and reports as required to meet management needs. Ensures required reports and deliverables are generated accurately and on-time.
- Ensure all assigned work orders are completed per schedule.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation and equipment history files regarding all fire/life safety systems.
- Coordinate and inspect the work of contractors to determine code and specifications compliance and workmanship.
- Available for on-call work. When on-call, response is required 24/7 for emergency consultation and call-ins.
- Conduct regular inspections of site buildings to ensure compliance with local, state, and national fire safety regulations and standards. Address any issues identified during inspections promptly.
- Act as site Fire Protection SME and provide consultation as needed.
- Assist the client with implementation of site emergency procedures.
- Coordinate training of site personnel on fire prevention, fire extinguisher use, hot work permits, emergency procedures, etc.
- Ensure that fire protection systems (e.g., fire alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers) are properly maintained and functioning in accordance with all AHJ’s. Promptly coordinate any system deficiencies with related vendors and report same to Manager.
- Assist in the investigation of fire and alarm incidents to determine cause and origin. Implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Coordinate with site security, maintenance personnel & related vendors any required fire system impairment and potential impact.
- Monitor fire alarm systems and other fire protection equipment. Ensure prompt response to any fire alarms or emergency signals.
- Support site’s POC for local fire department officials in the event of a fire or site emergency. Also coordinate with Local fire departs for routine site inspections.
- Complies with all JLL and client safety requirements and programs.
- Support confined space program.
- Support site’s emergency response team.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED).
- Must have a valid state driver’s license.
- Associate’s degree in Fire Science Technology or related degree preferred.
- Five or more years of experience as a Fire Protection / Safety Engineer.
- Expertise in fire detection and suppression systems.
- Ability to read and interpret building layouts, system drawings and manufacturers’ equipment specifications.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, laws, and regulations.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from a wide range of people including managers, clients, technical & non-technical.
