The Senior Operating Engineer is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of the facility. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving critical facility infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime, efficiency, and safety. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in semiconductor support processes, cleanroom operations, and facility maintenance.
Key Responsibilities :
Operations & Maintenance :
Ensure optimal operation of critical facility systems such as vacuum, compressed air, HVAC, ultrapure water systems, environmental controls.
Conduct preventative maintenance and repair work on support equipment to minimize downtime.
Work Environment :
Cleanroom environment with strict contamination control protocols.
May require wearing PPE, including cleanroom suits, gloves, and masks.
Rotating shifts, on-call responsibilities, and potential for extended hours during critical production periods.
Job Duties :
Inspect, maintain and repair / rebuild industrial equipment and machinery to ensure efficient operation.
Test and observe equipment and machinery using tools such as voltmeter and other testing devices to diagnose malfunctions and make repairs as needed.
Care for machinery such as compressors, process pumps, motors, process vacuum systems dryers etc., for signs of wear and to ensure proper efficiency.
Examine moving parts on a daily, weekly and monthly basis for signs of excessive wear, defects and damage.
Record all maintenance and repair service performed and keep track of all materials and parts used during the repair process.
Ability to locate and procure correct replacement parts, and work with vendors to find new solutions for aging equipment.
Able to follow manufacture manuals / blueprints when operating or setting up new equipment.
Fabricate new parts, assemble equipment and repair broken parts as needed.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Lead and develop processes and inspections to increase life of capital equipment.
Follow cardinal ruses and safe practices.
Able to assist other skilled trades as needed.
Ability to be on call as needed to cover building alarms and facility after hour issues.
Provide skill sets to support ultra-pure water operations, boiler maintenance, HVAC, pipe fitting, electrical, low voltage, controls and minor manual labor projects.
Required Qualifications :
5 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, facility engineering, or equipment maintenance.
Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for tracking maintenance and performance data.
Knowledge of environmental health & safety (EHS) regulations and semiconductor industry best practices.
Confident in navigating and controlling BAS platforms.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with semiconductor manufacturing processes
Familiarity with SCADA, PLCs, and other building automation systems.
Strong leadership and project management skills.
