MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY
- Ensure that all converting personnel are trained in safety and quality requirements for all required job tasks and to verify all activities within converting department as compliant.
- This is a hands on position with multiple duties and responsibilities. Although ample office work is important please keep in mind that a great deal of day to day tasks will include physical labor.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.
Lead department for all bag machines so that the operation and adjustment of machines are to the facilities satisfaction, which involves optimal speeds as well as only the best quality.Train, implement, document and constantly verify all safety, food safety and quality requirements.Implement root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions for any non-conforming raw materials, work in process, and finished goods products.Work with Plant Manager to ensure the highest throughput efficiency through converting department and proper manning schedule to meet production requirements.Actively participate in CAPA, (Corrective and Preventative Action) Program with Quality Assurance Manager / Department.Continuous improvement of all current converting processes.Perform other duties and special tasks as assigned.EXPERIENCE
A minimum of five years is required within flexible packaging converting departments including personnel and hands on machine setups / modifications as needed SQF Requirements.Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not requiredEDUCATION
High school graduate or GED equivalent requiredCurrently pursuing bachelor's degree inSKILLS
Skill in using computer hardware and software applications, including word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, databases, and computer-aided design.Skill administering training to achieve organizational goals in a team based environment.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals and groups.Ability to perform mathematical calculations at level needed for converting operations.Ability to prioritize tasks in an environment of changing time constraints and deadlines.Ability to exercise good judgment and make accurate and timely decisions.Knowledge of procedural auditing to ensure current SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) are followed.Normal math skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required.Must be able read and write EnglishBilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not requiredMust be able read and write EnglishGood mechanical, process flow and reasoning abilityGeneral mechanical skillsAbility to work without close supervisionSPECIAL KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of pouch making and laminationThorough knowledge of principles, practices, theories, and methods of manufacturing, production, and quality controls including Servo Driven wicketed and non-wicketed bag machines.
Pouch Machine Setup / Operation / Maintenance on a daily basis
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must follow all PPE policies by wearing steel toed shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and hair nets as required.Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting, pulling and pushing up to 60 lbs., unassisted. Must be able to bend, reach and turn frequently. Must be able to stand and move about the facility.Frequently (more than 75% of time) required to : stand and / or walk, use ladders and climb stairs, bend and stoop, reach, push / pull, kneel and crouch. Lift, carry and / or move items up to 50 lbs., without assistance; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects, tools, or controls, to verbally communicate, write and to hear.
