What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operator Carding position at US Cotton?
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY
Stage, operate, unload and pack the Dot Coater and Hydro Lines while maintaining a safe work environment and meeting all production and quality standards.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.
- Each Operator must know all aspects of each function listed and will be required to periodically rotate assuming responsibility of each Operator function.
Operate Dot Coater Line
- Assist the Material Handler in all required components and supplies necessary to run the Dot Coater Line.
- Stage master rolls in storage area with the assistance from Material Handler.
- Loadmaster rolls onto Dot Coater with assistance from Material Handler.
- Unload slit rolls at end of dot-coating process.
- Manually stack slit rolls onto pallets.
- Deliver loaded pallets to stretch wrap machine using a pallet jack. Wrap and label product.
- Input pallet information into inventory system.
- Perform routine quality audits. Maintain all quality standards.
- Assist Lead Operator as needed.
- Maintain all housekeeping standards in work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Hydro Line
- Operate the Unwinder
- Upend rolls on pallet
- Deliver loaded pallets to stretch wrap machine using a pallet jack. Wrap and label product.
- Transport all recycle waste.
- Perform routine quality audits. Maintain all quality standards.
- Assist Lead Operator as needed.
- Maintain all housekeeping standards in work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
Material Handler
- Assist other Operators with running Hydro Line.
- Transport all raw materials required for production from warehouse to the machines including but not limited to cores, pallets, etc.
- Open and stage cotton bales.
- Input material locations into inventory system.
- Assist with staging master rolls for Dot Coater in storage area.
- Assist in loading master rolls onto Dot Coater.
- Assist Lead Operator as needed.
- Maintain all housekeeping standards in work area.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- Prior work experience in manufacturing.
- Knowledge and experience with MS Office and inventory control software.
EDUCATION
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
SKILLS
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of machine operating procedures.
- Basic math skills involving addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and fractions.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to perform physical activities such as but not limited to lifting heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing, and walking.
