As a Cardiology Nurse Practitioner, you will be an integral part of our Specialty Care service line, working within a Whole Health System of care to empower Veterans to take charge of their health and live their lives to the fullest. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collaborate with a dynamic team to deliver innovative solutions in cardiology care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of Veterans' cardiovascular health.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in coordination with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as EKGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
  • Manage and monitor medication regimens, providing education and counseling to Veterans and their families.
  • Lead impactful projects that directly contribute to our mission of providing exceptional cardiac care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and experience.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Current and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by a nationally recognized certifying body.
  • Experience in cardiology valued, but not required.

NP Salary and Benefits

The nurse practitioner salary is $116,040 - $160,629 per year for this position, and is determined through a formal pay-setting process, based on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Annual Salary Increases: 2% federal, 2% local, and promotional (on average)
  • Retirement: Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) retirement (401k) with employer contributions
  • Pension: Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) pension contributions
  • Insurance: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance ($16,000 in premiums paid by VA)
  • Optional life insurance coverage
  • Professional Development: Scholarship and degree advancement opportunities ($44,248 lifetime award)
  • Dependent Care: Child care subsidy ($5,000 per year)

(NP) Nurse Practitioner Work-Life Balance:

  • 12 weeks of paid parental leave per qualifying event
  • 11 paid federal holidays annually
  • 13-26 paid vacation days annually (based on years of service)

  • 15 days of paid military leave annually
  • Credit for military service
