Your Mission as a Food Service Worker

As a Food Service Worker, you will follow set procedures to complete repetitive assignments within the food service department. Your work will directly impact the quality of life for our Veterans, ensuring they receive nutritious and timely meals.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Delivering Nutrition Excellence: Collaborate with dietitians and healthcare professionals to ensure that every meal meets the unique dietary needs of our Veterans, contributing to their healing and satisfaction.
• Behind-the-Scenes Hero: Manage inventory, prepare meals, and maintain a clean and sanitary environment, ensuring the seamless operation of our dining services.
• Personalized Care: Assist in customizing menus for Veterans with specialized dietary requirements, showcasing your attention to detail and commitment to patient care.
• Team Player: Work closely with the culinary team to produce high-quality meals, supporting the overall mission of providing exceptional healthcare.
• Adaptable and Responsive: Handle daily challenges with flexibility, ensuring that meals are delivered on time and that every Veteran receives the nourishment they need for recovery.

Dining Associate Qualifications and Experience

• Dexterity and Safety: You'll need to be able to move around safely in a kitchen environment and handle equipment without causing accidents.
• Ability to Follow Directions: You should be able to understand and carry out instructions from supervisors or recipes.
• Capability to Handle Weights and Loads: You'll need to lift and move items like trays, boxes of supplies, or heavy kitchen equipment.

Food Service Worker Salary and Benefits

• Annual salary range: $40,227 - $46,883
• Hourly wage range: $19.34 - $22.54
• Annual Salary Increases: 2% federal, 2% local, and promotional (on average)
• Retirement: Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) retirement (401k) with employer contributions
• Pension: Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) pension contributions
