Description
*Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical systems involving production equipment and plant systems, including the plant’s main power supply system.
*Performs minor and major repairs of all buildings and production equipment.
*Repairs electrical equipment/systems and control circuits; and replaces faulty electrical equipment as needed. This troubleshooting element is inclusive of Three-phase Motors and Programmable Logical Controls (PLC) applications.
*Must have a working knowledge of relay logic and be capable of applying this knowledge in troubleshooting the PLCs in the production equipment.
*Must have a strong understanding of NFPA 70E standards and be capable of applying these standards in the work situation.
*May operate a computer that controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems.
*Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems and other mechanical systems on production equipment to assure optimum performance of that production process.
*Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
*Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to
*Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment and adheres to the production maintenance schedule.
*Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality, and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to the Supervisor /Manager.
*Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
Additional duties may be assigned by management.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Military training and/or Technical School preferred
2-3 years of Electro-Mechanical Automation System Installation & Troubleshooting Experience.
Possess an operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which includes motors, servos, pumps, drives, relays, 3-phase power, communication devices, industrial/electronic controls, and power transmission systems.
A good understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
A strong PLC troubleshooting and problem-solving ability with practical, mechanical & electrical aptitude.
· Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
· Must be fully computer literate in Microsoft environment.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently maturely and professionally.
· Ability to work various shifts/overtime/days per week.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Military training and/or Technical School preferred
2-3 years of Electro-Mechanical Automation System Installation & Troubleshooting Experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as fractions, decimals, measurements, volume, and rates. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
