Electrical Estimator
Location: Durham, NC
Shift Hours: 7:30 – 5:30 Mon – Thur.
Pay Range: $80k-95k (based on experience)
As an Electrical Estimator your responsibilities will include analyzing project plans, collaborating with diverse stakeholders, and ensuring accurate and thorough bids that reflect our commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Document Management: Acquire and organize bid documents and addendums.
- Project Analysis: Review project plans, specifications, and related materials to identify the components necessary for bid proposals.
- Cost Assessment: Calculate the costs associated with electrical construction by analyzing available documentation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss estimates, develop plans, and address any issues.
- Relationship Building: Foster and maintain strong relationships with customers, designers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Coordination: Communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding any modifications or adjustments needed for cost estimates.
- Estimate Development: Create detailed and accurate estimates for management, including planning, organizing, and scheduling tasks.
- Constructability Evaluation: Assess the feasibility of design documents and submit requests for information (RFIs) when details are lacking.
- Site Visits: Attend pre-bid and job site walkthroughs to evaluate field conditions that may affect construction or bids.
- Vendor Interaction: Distribute bid documents and bills of materials to vendors and subcontractors for quotes. Analyze proposals for materials, equipment, and services while maintaining positive vendor relationships.
- Bid Preparation: Compile bid documents with detailed scope letters, procurement evaluations, labor rates, and productivity assessments, addressing any discrepancies.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with fellow estimators and other departments.
- Conduct turnover meetings with project management and supervisors to clarify scope and estimation processes.
- Mentor and train new employees within the department.
- Assist with database management and development.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 5 years in a relevant field.
- Project Scale: Experience with projects ranging from $250,000 to $20,000,000.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with field practices and the National Electrical Code.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Word, Excel, and estimating software.
- Preferred Software: Experience with Trimble Accubid Anywhere (Enterprise) and Live Count (on-screen takeoff) is a plus but not required.
