What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Coordinator position at US Farathane?
The Packaging Coordinator is responsible for organizing and monitoring administrative, product, and project related tasks within the Packaging Department.
Assist the Materials department in verifying correct packaging is available or proper shipment. Provide the main line of communication with the customer and supports the Materials department by assuring customer requirements are shipped as ordered on time.
- Meet all Customers Packaging expectations. This includes receiving returnable in various Customer Sites, performing Inventory’s as required and Returning Damaged containers. Customer Systems inventory accuracy to payment on any expendable dunnage
- Maintain Yard working with yard drivers for clean, organized area always
- Work with Toyota Forklift for work order calls and standard PM.
- Work directly with customers to maintain level of returnable needed to meet shipments
- Respond to all requests internal and external within 24 hours.
- Coordinate with cross function teams to ensure packaging is available for production runs and shipments.
- Process Claims if required
- Manage Inventory in Parts for all containers – 99% accuracy
- Coordinate returnable / extendable packaging based on schedule
- Other projects as assigned by Supervisor or Materials Manager
- Monitor and manage Ford, FCA and GM container system (SMART & DDL System)
- Track short shipments of containers.
- Respond to all written and verbal communication, internal and external, in a timely fashion.
- Inventory all containers (Reconciliation of shipments, receipts, and cycle counts)
- Manage containers in Parts for accuracy of inventory.
- Report inventories to Production Control.
- Adise on inventory per part.
- Maintain container storage area.
- Submit packaging reimbursements.
- Replace / send out for repair damaged containers.
- Work with Production Control to streamline processes.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures (i.e., quality policy manual, associate handbook, Level II procedures, etc.)
- Comply with all of internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping I respective areas.
- Assure production requirements are shipped to the customer as released to ensure 100% on time delivery requirements.
- Notify customers of late, missed, or short shipments.
- Update database to reflect current packaging requirements and maintain container tracking logs.
- Assist, as appropriate, in maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Assist, as appropriate, in problem solving activities.
- Responsible for plant and warehouse cycle counting of material.
- Assist in all physical inventories taken in the plant.
- Support plant activities toward achieving customer awards and Quality registration.
- Other duties as assigned or deemed necessary by supervisor or manager.
- Submits Smart # requests and abnormal shipping requests.
- Communicates container shortages on a daily basis, both internally and externally.
- Submit smart claims, FCA repair / damage.
- Coordinate with carrier for pick up.
