Overview
The U.S. Army's Human Resources Specialist (HR) Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) is 42A. HR specialists perform a variety of personnel and administrative tasks to support the Army's operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage personnel records for officers and enlisted soldiers
- Process personnel actions for soldiers and their families
- Advise commanders, staff, and soldiers on human resources
- Manage and operate field personnel information systems
- Train and assist system users
- Monitor system activities
- Provide and manage postal operations
- Oversee strength management and distribution
- Maintain emergency notification data
Skills and qualifications
HR specialists should have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. They should also be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Training
HR specialists undergo basic combat training and advanced individual training. They also receive on-the-job training and instructions on human resource systems. Additional training opportunities may be available depending on the unit
