Responsibilities
Functions independently to perform Psychiatric Admission Assessments to include a provisional admitting diagnosis, medical history, precipitant to treatment, mental status, strengths, barriers and specific treatment interventions.
Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
Records daily assessment findings, formulates plan and prognosis based on patient’s condition. All service recipient documentation is to be completed fully daily.
Participates in family meetings and educating families about use of prescribed medications and treatments.
Formulates an initial diagnosis and treatment plan for individuals with common mental health problems.
Provides support, psychotherapy and supportive counseling for clients in regards to psychosocial, environmental and physical well-being.
Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s needs.
Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff which allows for consultation, collaboration and/or referral.
Provides proportionate share of call coverage in call group including when other physicians are unavailable due to weekend coverage, vacations, holidays, illness or attendance to professional duties.
Active member of the Multi-Disciplinary Treatment Team Meetings.
Participates in weekly Utilization Review Meetings.
Cooperates in reimbursement, utilization review, peer review, and other requirements of third-party payers; cooperates in obtaining payment from third-party payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, health maintenance organizations, health benefit plans, insurance companies, and Accountable Care Organizations.
Completes Peer Review process with Insurance Companies when required.
Coordinates discharge planning process with multi-disciplinary team. Prepares discharge summary to be sent to the next level of care providers within 14 days of discharge.
