What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at US Heart & Vascular?
US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Medical Assistant to join our team at Birmingham Heart Clinics in the Birmingham AL area.
4–10-hour shifts Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height.
- Record patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
- Help physicians examine and treat patients
- Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Operate electrocardiogram (EKG), or other equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests.
- Documenting/Recording Information
- Inventory medical supplies or instruments
- Maintain medical records
- May help in other departments such as call center or diagnostics
- Off day may differ week to week
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant or nursing program
- Nextgen EMR experience a plus
