What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Front Office Specialist position at US Heart & Vascular?
US Heart and Vascular is in need of a PRN Medical Front Office Specialist to join our team at Memorial Katy Cardiology in Katy, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinates and schedules all patient in-office testing, procedures, and follow-ups.
- Provides and explains thoroughly and completely all testing and procedure instructions to patients.
- Faxes out-of-office procedures and testing orders to correct outpatient facilities.
- Faxes and provide patients with lab orders.
- Provides patients with orders and instructions.
- Follows up with facilities of patient completion and obtains and ensures timely delivery of patient results.
- Call patients to follow up after cancellations and/or no-shows and reschedule accordingly.
- Physician liaison for the hospital includes discharge orders, follow ups, and test scheduling.
- Collect patient payments in accordance with patient benefits and fee schedules.
- Close money collected batch, reconcile and complete by end of day.
- Coordinate with offices for testing referrals.
- Create patient charts and update patient demographics and insurance on record as needed.
- Answer phone calls and assist the administrative front desk team when needed.
- Send in prescriptions and prescription refills per the physicians' request.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of reception or medical office experience.
- Experience in cardiology is preferred but not required.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
