What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgery Coordinator position at US Heart & Vascular?
US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Surgery Coordinator to join our HeartPlace Clinic in Plano, TX.
Responsibilities
- Receive and review patient referrals, establish contact with patients and families, explain processes, and schedule necessary screenings and clinic visits.
- Assist patients and families with navigation of testing schedules, perform functional assessments, and coordinate the development of treatment plans.
- Facilitate scheduling and authorization of structural heart procedures including but not limited to structural procedures in their entirety,
- Contact patients 48-72 hours post-discharge and coordinate follow-up visits as required.
- Work with multiple departments including OR, cath lab, anesthesia, CT, echo, and vascular units to ensure cohesive patient care.
- Initiate and coordinate educational programs for hospital staff and outreach programs for patients and families.
- Track and upload required registry data, maintain communication with device representatives, and ensure compliance with registry requirements as well as contribute to the CTO (Chronic Total Occlusion) PCI program.
- Establish strong working relationships with surgeons, interventionalists, advanced practice providers, and device representatives.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Certified Medical Assistant or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Active BLS required.
- Three to seven years of experience, with a focus on cardiovascular health and care coordination.
- Strong clinical assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation skills.
