Our client, a major non-profit association that helps older adults use technology, is seeking a trilingual (Mandarin, Cantonese, English) Technology Trainer for an 18-month part-time (20 hours per week) contract position in New York, NY. This position is a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to empower older adults by helping them thrive in the digital world and harness technology to achieve their personal goals.
Technology Trainers teach the organization’s curriculum using books and online resources specifically designed for older adults. In person classes typically meet twice a week for ten weeks. Virtual programs are primarily one-off sessions focused on various technology topics. Trainer schedules will vary each quarter.
Trainers guide participants in sending emails, exploring their interests online, connecting with family and friends on social media, banking online, starting small businesses, and much more.
Schedule :
Trainers will work between the hours of 9-5 conducting training for 1.5 - 3 hours, this includes set-up times.
Trainers will need to go to different sites throughout the week in all 5 boroughs of NYC. On average this will be 20 hours a week with the potential for more hours depending on the needs for that quarter
Responsibilities :
- Teach technology courses virtually and in-person using the organization’s curriculum and approach.
- Create a comfortable and supportive learning environment.
- Offer personalized support to callers on the organization’s hotlines.
- Make outbound calls to the organization’s members.
- Represent and promote the organization’s culture and opportunities to course participants.
- Engage in regular communication with staff, including feedback on site issues, curriculum, etc.
- Coordinate with site staff, including site visits, graduations, etc.
- Collect surveys and evaluations.
- Enter data into Salesforce database.
- Participate in trainer meetings and other training events.
- Recruit participants.
- Participate in special projects, as needed (ex. outreach, curriculum, etc.).
- Supervise volunteers who assist classes.
