Strong demand for specialized rental equipment (and USM ReRents continued growth) spurs our active search for a Rental Fleet Service Specialist to arrange for and ensure the assets in USM's equipment fleet are repaired and serviced and are again available for rent. Fleet Service Specialists pro-actively engage USM ReRents' customers (equipment rental companies) and / or third-party repair vendors to arrange for the repair and servicing of non-operating and / or damaged equipment. Fleet Service Specialists work closely (and are in constant communication) with USM ReRents sales staff, the team's Rental Coordinators, the Operations Manager, and with equipment mechanics in order to maximize the utilization rate of USM-owned equipment.
Responsibilities :
As a Fleet Service Specialist, your primary responsibilities would include :
- Being responsible for the maintenance and repair of USM's rental fleet (ultra-booms, spider-lifts, and telehandlers) located in many portions of the US and Canada.
- Ensuring maximum fleet effectiveness by working with rental customers (whose yards typically employ mechanics) and / or with USM repair shops (in TX & AL) and / or with third-party repair shops.
- Arranging for the maintenance & repair of fleet assets, effectively minimizing the number of days that rental equipment is down and unavailable for use.
- Identifying and cultivating customer and third-party provider relationships.
- Identifying customer damage to USM equipment, and communicating with the customer to resolve such issues.
- Invoicing customers for repairs of damaged equipment.
- Issuing purchase orders to customers and / or to 3rd party vendors for their repair of USM rental fleet machines.
- Ordering OEM parts and shipping them to repair vendors so that repairs may be completed asap.
- Researching, negotiating pricing, and sourcing common parts from original parts manufacturers.
You will also provide assistance & information to ReRents sales staff; review and approve work order estimates; file equipment warranty claims and arrange for the return of parts; ensure that fleet assets are scheduled for annual inspections; arrange for the delivery of parts to mechanics (either in the field, in our customer's yard, or at an equipment repair / service shop); match purchase orders & invoices and approve vendor payments; positively contribute to efficient & timely flow of information & reporting; and complete fleet repair status reports.
Qualifications :
At a minimum, job candidates must possess :
Preferred candidates may also possess a related Associate's or Bachelor's degree, and may possess additional technical training / experience.
Ideal candidates will possess knowledge of the construction equipment rental industry, and of various makes, models & manufacturers of lifts, booms, telehandlers and crawlers; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook; skills in time management and in customer service; and abilities to effectively multi-task, to prepare reports, and to read, interpret & communicate equipment drawings and specifications.
