Field Service Technician (Aerial Equipment Mechanic)

Privately-held, fast-growing, established, busy and profitable aerial lift company has an opportunity for a skilled / experienced / motivated Field Service Technician to repair and perform preventive maintenance on various pieces of aerial lift equipment (articulating booms, compact crawlers, telehandlers, etc.) This position will require significant travel. The position will be based in-between Las Vegas & Phoenix.

  • Are you a self-motivated aerial lift mechanic with a high level of technical aptitude? With observation, can you diagnose heavy equipment problems?
  • Are you aService Technician who is a master at troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining aerial equipment?
  • Are you open to frequent (mostly regional) travel?

USM ReRents (a division of US Markets, Inc.) is the leader in the re-rental of aerial construction lifts across the United States and Canada. Our equipment includes large boom lifts, heavy-capacity telehandlers, and spider & atrium lifts. USM is also the exclusive North American distributor of the Falcon Spider Lift.

We continue to grow! Demand for quality rental equipment spurs our active search for a new remotely-based technician / mechanic to travel to our customers' equipment yard locations to repair and perform preventive maintenance on (USM-owned) ultra-booms, spider lifts, and telehandlers so that these assets may again be successfully rented out by the equipment yards. Expected travel is 80% - 100%.

Role & Responsibilities :

  • Developing service & travel plans weekly with the Equipment Fleet Manager in Chicago
  • Traveling to various customer locations to perform repairs and service on poorly-functioning or damaged equipment located in the southwest region
  • Performing hydraulic, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Performing initial repair inspections and operational tests of equipment
  • Creating accurate repair lists with the assistance of a service manager
  • Completing ongoing continued training to ensure safety standards
  • Performing required annual inspections on Falcon Lifts and on USM ReRents' fleet assets
  • Requirements

  • Four (4) year's equipment repair experience (less if familiar with aerial equipment)
  • Ability to manage one's time & travel schedule (be accountable & reliable)
  • An intermediate or advanced level of hydraulics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting; understanding of gas and diesel engines and electric motors
  • A valid drivers' license (and a good driving record)
  • A good work ethic and a positive attitude
  • A willingness to learn and grow their skills, and to apply technical training to real-world equipment needs
  • The ability to work in a safe manner
  • Demonstrated abilities to be organized and dependable
  • A consistency in producing quality workmanship.
  • The computer skills to effectively enter & transmit data; to open, read & respond to e-mail.
  • Preferred candidates will possess :

  • Construction equipment (or rental) industry experience
  • Knowledge of aerial / construction equipment, their application and safe use
  • Previous factory / manufacturer training and / or certification
  • Communication skills - the ability to positively interact with customers and to update and partner with your Fleet Service Manager
