Night Dispatcher

*Port of LA/LB Night DISPATCHER *

Harbor Division has been a long-standing staple in the trucking community since 1986. We continue to move forward with drayage increases and are looking for a highly motivated, independent dispatcher to cover the 2nd/night shift.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS & RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate will be familiar with the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles in addition to the local railroads. Must have strong knowledge of terminal appointment websites including Pier Pass.

Good interpersonal/team player attributes. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Fluent in English and Spanish a plus.

Responsible for the execution of the dispatch and appointment functions, from the start to the end of the driver’s dray. Ensuring that all jobs are completed and appropriate communication to customer accounts involving any additional accessorial fees (port wait time, stop offs, pre-pulls, etc.). Must have a solid of understanding of processing driver paperwork, completing outstanding moves when needed to ensure a proper turnover at the end of the shift.

Strong organizational, and multi-tasking skills with ability to prioritize workload.

Familiarity with hazardous materials, overweight, DOT regulations and BIT program requirements.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Minimum 2 years port drayage experience, with knowledge of the Port of LA/LB, including terminal websites.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma required.

Knowledge of local roads and freeways in Southern California.

Dispatch software knowledge; Profit Tools a plus

PC Experience: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $25.00 and $27.00. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
