IT Manager

The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center (WVCI), Central Oregon's largest privately owned cancer care and treatment center, is looking for an IT Manager to join our team. WVCI takes an approach to cancer care that involves "putting the patient in the center of the room". The right candidate for this position will collaborate with administrative and clinical cancer leaders to provide a level of internal customer service that allows this mission to be accomplished.

This role is responsible for the strategic planning and oversight of the IT department and is crucial in ensuring that WVCI's information technology systems operate smoothly, securely, and efficiently to support both clinical and administrative functions. The IT Manager will lead a team and provide technological solutions that improve patient care, operational efficiency, and compliance with healthcare regulations.

The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $81,000 - $130,000. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc.

Responsibilities

  1. IT Infrastructure Management:
    • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
    • Ensure the clinic's IT infrastructure is secure, efficient, and up-to-date.
    • Support and manage an AVAYA-based phone system, ensuring reliable communication services.
    • Maintain and administer file and print servers and fax systems, ensuring efficient and secure access for clinic staff.
    • Collaborate with regional USON (United States Oncology Network) teams to manage and support network equipment and hardware, ensuring alignment with broader network strategies and standards.
  2. Network Administration:
    • Manage and maintain the clinic's network systems, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity.
    • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
    • Work with regional USON teams to support network infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration and compliance with network policies and protocols.
  3. Data Security and Compliance:
    • Implement and manage data protection and security protocols to safeguard patient information.
    • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and other relevant standards.
  4. Technical Support:
    • Provide technical support to clinic staff, addressing IT-related issues promptly.
    • Utilize the ServiceNow ticketing system to track, manage, and resolve support requests efficiently.
    • Develop and implement best practices for using the ServiceNow platform to enhance support operations.
    • Keep the clinic informed about new technologies and how they can be leveraged.
  5. System Upgrades and Maintenance:
    • Plan and execute regular system updates and upgrades to maintain optimal performance.
    • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for hardware and software purchases and maintenance.
  6. IT Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with the clinic's goals and objectives.
    • Identify opportunities for technology improvements and innovations.
  7. Budget Management:
    • Prepare and manage the IT department's budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
    • Evaluate and approve IT-related purchases and expenditures.
  8. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor the IT team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
    • Coordinate training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and knowledge.
    • Develop and deliver IT training programs for staff to enhance their technical skills.
    • Draft and maintain department policies, ensuring alignment with USON standards and best practices.
  9. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:
    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
    • Conduct regular tests and updates to the business continuity plan.
  10. Vendor and Stakeholder Relations:
    • Manage relationships with IT vendors, negotiating contracts and service agreements.
    • Collaborate with clinic leadership and other stakeholders to understand and meet IT needs.
  11. Project Management:
    • Lead IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgets.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams and resources to achieve project goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with minimum five years of systems operations and PC environment systems experience.
  • Ten years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

Must be able to view computer screen and printed material accurately. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
