Virginia Oncology Associates, the largest group of medical professionals in Hampton Roads and Northeast North Carolina devoted exclusively to cancer care and blood disorders, has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Records Tech for our office located in Norfolk.

Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting with organizing, sorting, and filing all incoming and outgoing patient information.
- Copies, mails, and/or faxes patient chart information as requested and authorized.
- Assist in preparing and filing all internal and external correspondence and medical reports into patient medical record according to filing system.
- Keeps a record of new patient appointments and retrieves appropriate information from referring physician offices
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years office experience preferred, preferably in a medical office setting.
- Previous experience in a medical records department strongly preferred.

Work may require sitting for long periods of time, stooping and bending/stretching for files and supplies. Requires occasional lifting of files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, tellephone, copier and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.
