Role Overview
The Human Resources Manager will oversee and coordinate the administrative and operational functions of the HR department. This role includes supervising key HR team members such as recruiters, payroll specialists, and other assigned staff. The HR Manager will play a pivotal role in driving critical projects and priorities, including workforce planning, budgeting, talent management, organizational design, and change management. The HR Manager will collaborate closely with both local and global HR teams to implement People and Culture initiatives.
This position requires in-person/onsite presence
Areas of Responsibility
Leadership & Staff Management:
- Lead and guide HR staff in recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll, and other HR functions.
- Provide ongoing coaching and support to managers across the organization on HR matters, including job leveling, performance management, talent management, employee relations, and succession planning.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture across all functions.
Compensation & Benefits Management:
- Develop and recommend annual HR department budgets.
- Ensure compensation structures remain competitive by conducting regular salary benchmarking and collaborating with leadership to align compensation with performance and organizational goals.
- Administer the salary planning process and ensure timely submission of salary increases and bonuses within budget.
- Conduct compensation analysis to ensure compliance with market standards and federal/state guidelines.
Talent Management & Organizational Development:
- Administer and coordinate the annual performance management process, ensuring that employee goals adhere to the SMART criteria and that reviews are completed on time.
- Lead succession planning efforts and talent assessments to identify high-potential employees and ensure workforce stability.
- Drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention, including conducting regular employee surveys and organizing events to promote company culture.
Regulatory Compliance & HR Policies:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local HR regulations and company policies.
- Review and update job descriptions to ensure they meet legal standards and reflect organizational needs.
- Ensure the consistent application of the employee handbook, HR policies, practices, and procedures across the organization.
- Administer compliance programs such as EEO 1 and Vets reporting, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation claims.
Training & Development:
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees, supervisors, and managers, including mandatory topics such as harassment prevention, workplace violence, safety, and compliance.
- Promote continuous learning and professional development to support career growth for all employees.
Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues and conflicts, addressing concerns in a timely and fair manner.
- Investigate employee complaints, ensuring thorough documentation and appropriate resolutions.
- Provide expert guidance on performance management, discipline, and conflict resolution to foster a positive work environment.
Health & Safety:
- Ensure employees adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with safety team to manage workplace safety training, incident reporting, and compliance.
- Administer leave programs, including FMLA, NJFLI, Temporary Disability, and other benefits, while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
HR Analytics & Reporting:
- Leverage HR analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of HR programs, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and make data-driven decisions.
- Utilize insights to improve processes and drive strategic HR initiatives that align with organizational objectives.
Global HR Collaboration:
- Partner with global HR teams to align regional HR strategies with overall business goals.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to understand evolving business needs and adjust HR strategies accordingly.
Additional Information:
- Participation in employee events, surveys, and leadership development initiatives are encouraged. Other duties assigned are based on business needs.
Requirements
Education & Qualification:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field. A Master's degree (MS or MBA) is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP are a plus.
Skills & Ability
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and motivate teams across all levels.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proven track record in managing confidential employee and company information with discretion.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS applications (preferred: ADP Workforce Now, applicant tracking systems).
- In-depth knowledge of federal and state HR regulations, including labor laws, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and workplace safety.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional, team-oriented environment.
- Proficient in MS applications (Preferred - ADP Workforce Now ).
- Experience with applicant tracking systems (Preferred - ADP Workforce Now ).
Physical Requirements (Lifting, etc.):
- Ability to navigate office, lab, and plant floor working environments.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for up to 8 hours a day and perform tasks that require close vision.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hairnets, lab coats, gloves, and safety shoes when required.
Work Environment (Office, Warehouse, temperature extremes, etc.):
- Primarily office-based with controlled temperature environments for heat and air conditioning. Occasional visits to warehouses or manufacturing areas may be required, with appropriate PPE worn.
