U.S. Salt LLC is located on the shore of Seneca Lake in Watkins Glen, NY and has been in operation since 1893. Currently an industry leader in food grade and pharmaceutical salt production, US Salt also has a strong presence in oil development, textiles and dyes, and water softener products.
Summary:
The Production Manager ensures the efficient operations of the production function affecting cost, quality, and documentation of data by monitoring and managing the department’s activities including analysis of operating data, preventative maintenance, and compliance with safety and environmental regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering or related field with a minimum of 8 years of related supervisory, and manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to provide leadership to and direct/review the work of /- 20 unionized employees and 4 non-union employees. Organizes, develops, and maintains adequate personnel to carry out maintenance objectives of facility.
- Must be willing and flexible enough to work 2nd or 3rd shift on occasion as business requires.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, with basic to intermediate computer skills.
- Must have strong organizational and time-management skills; flexibility and ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
- Must be able to foster team building within department while promoting workforce engagement with open and honest communication.
- Displays an attitude conducive to progress through positive change, continuous improvement and active contributor to the teamwork concept.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Manages union and non-union employees in accordance with company’s policies, applicable laws, and union contract language. This includes, but not limited to, training, planning, assigning, directing, disciplining, rewarding, and appraising assigned workforce.
- Monitors the salt production equipment including the operation of evaporators, dryers, boilers and generators for steam and power generation. Is accountable for the operation, maintenance and compliance reporting of the brine wells.
- Plans and develops daily work schedules and maintains adequate resources and materials necessary for the effective and efficient operations of the production department.
- Plans, develops and controls overhead budgets for the department and approves expenditure of funds.
- Establishes and ensures the attainment of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) as well a Good Manufacturing practices and Food Safety Compliance.
- Collaborates with all levels of personnel to properly determine, schedule and execute required production needs.
- Establishes and maintains strict safety and housekeeping programs that comply with all health and safety regulations. Ensures any safety issues arising from area of responsibility are dealt with in a timely manner.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
