Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Groundhand for our Surface Sand Mine operations. As a Groundhand, you will be responsible for supporting daily mining operations, ensuring the safe and efficient extraction of sand and other materials. You will be working in a team environment while performing physical tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in loading and unloading sand and materials from trucks and conveyors
- Perform manual labor tasks, including shoveling, lifting, and moving materials
- Operate basic mining equipment such as loaders and conveyors under supervision
- Maintain a clean and organized worksite
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols at all times
- Assist in monitoring equipment and machinery to ensure proper function
- Follow instructions from supervisors and team leads to maintain efficient operations
- Participate in safety drills and ongoing training to enhance skill sets
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Previous experience in a mining or construction environment is an asset, but not required
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in outdoor conditions, including various weather types
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Willingness to work long hours, including weekends and overtime when necessary
Preferred Skills:
- Experience operating heavy machinery or equipment (preferred but not required)
- First Aid/CPR certification (preferred)
- Knowledge of sand mining operations (preferred)
