The Montpelier Dry Section Operator, whose line of reporting is highlighted on the Montpelier Organizational Chart, is responsible for operations, operating maintenance and quality in the dry section.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect and document work area for safety/environmental concerns.
- Cooperate with other Dry Process Operators and Utility workers to ensure seamless transition of workflow during breaks, lunches, shift changes, illnesses and vacations.
- Cooperate with the Grinding Process Operator and Wet Section Loader Operator to
maintain sufficient quantity and quality to meet dry process production needs.
- Cooperate with supervision and lab personnel taking samples to maintain sufficient
quality of final product.
- Will keep the dry processing area clean and free of spillage, used maintenance items
and trash.
Operations:
- Start up and shut down the section.
- Adjust feed rate.
- Adjust burners.
- Adjust dampers.
- Obtain silo measurements and maintain silo levels.
- Obtain and record all necessary values for equipment, i.e. dust collector readings,
exhaust stack vacuum, etc.
- Identify each piece of equipment in the section.
- Operate dryers to minimize fuel consumption.
- Operation and inspection of reject pump and discharge.
- Operation and inspection of dust collector.
- Obtain and enter the correct information into the operations spreadsheet
Un-choke blue tank.
- Reset exterior electrical disconnects for all equipment in the section.
- Un-choke reject boxes.
- Replace jets in reject boxes.
- Repair holes to reduce or eliminate spillage.
Quality:
- Check Sweco screen product for oversize.
- Test Fe2O3 using the PortaSpec.
- Adjust magnetic controls to control Fe2O3.
- Test and standardize the PortaSpec.
- Clean the PortaSpec.
- Obtain representative in-process samples.
- Obtain representative truck samples (when necessary).
- Perform proper truck bed inspection to ensure no contamination (when necessary).
- Log truck shipments and direct trucks to the proper silo.
EDUCATION, EXPRIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
- Must possess an excellent operation and safety record.
- Must be able to consistently report to work and on time; meet schedules and deadlines on time.
- Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessary.
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
