Job Description :
- Develop, assemble, and test control systems for measurements in support of the development and manufacturing of products. Manage the transfer of technology from the lab to the manufacturing line.
Day to Day Responsibilities :
Design, build, and test electrical control systems geared towards measurement developmentWork with a variety of cross-functional groups (Development, Quality, IT, Purchasing, Operations) to define, develop and implement controls solutions for measurement and instrumentation systems.Transfer technology from early-stage development to a product suitable for robust use in manufacturing.Leverage external suppliers for key technologies or core competencies such as system integration.Define Scopes of Work, competitively quote when appropriate, issue Purchase Orders, track supplier work and approve invoices.Design experiments and analyze data to identify and implement improvements to measurement systems or production processes.Create / update documentation for release to production including Machine Specifications; operating procedures and drawing packages.Train engineering, maintenance and operations people how to use and maintain measurement systems.Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting using data and performance analysis of the installed systems.Required Experience :
1-2 years in a similar manufacturing industry preferred.Required Experience / Skills :
Fundamental knowledge of electrical systemsHands on experience with specialized tools and measurement instruments for mechanical, electrical, and optical systems building and debuggingAbility to select and specify commercial standard electrical partsProgramming experience in one or more of the following : PLCs, Motion Control, LabVIEW, Microsoft Visual Studio (C#)Experience in design tools : AutoCAD or SolidworksStrong communication and presentation skills (MS Office programs)Data retrieval, plotting and analysis (primarily using Microsoft Excel)Desired Experience / Skills :
Control system development (electrical layout, wiring, component selection)Experience with electrical / optical / mechanical installations, including system checkout and troubleshootingLaser ExperienceMotion Control – ability to integrate motion on imaging platformsProcess engineering knowledge. Experienced with design of experiments, statistical analysis and process improvementExperience with MatLAB, Python, or other data manipulation softwareExperience with Metrology, Inspection and Product Quality in support of production organizationsComputing – Familiar with high performance computing systemsEducation :
BS, MS or PhD in EE, CSE, ME or Physics / Optics
Training or hands-on experience with electrical systems is major plus
