Job Title : Research Scientist
Location : Austin TX 78741 (Hybrid)
Duration : 12 Months Contract
Hybrid Role, 2 days remote / 3 days in office

Job Description :
This position within team will involve the use of chemical engineering fundamentals and principles to develop, optimize and design new and existing wet chemical applications for the SPS BU.
The position requires expertise in transport phenomena, thermodynamics, chemical reactions and reaction kinetics while having the ability to development predictive models and apply them to semiconductor industry applications.
This position requires strong experience in Quantum Chemistry while molecular dynamics reaction-based simulation experience is desired.
Travel will be domestic for training
Responsibilities :
Build chemical reaction and atomistic scale models to better understand and optimize vapor and liquid etch processes.
Model chemical reactions on semiconductor surfaces.
Build density functional theory and / or molecular dynamic chemical models into simulation software to optimize tool and process design.
Interface with development team to define project strategy and deliverables.
Fully document work to provide colleagues with enough detail to maintain engineering simulations and / or code.
Strong emphasis is placed on candidates that can find solutions to difficult problems through structured project management while working in a team environment.
Good communications skills are considered critical. The candidate will communicate project goals and status updates internally and externally.
Some domestic and international travel are required.
Experience :
The position requires expertise in transport phenomena, thermodynamics, chemical reactions and reaction kinetics while having the ability to development predictive models and apply them to semiconductor industry applications. This position requires strong experience in Quantum Chemistry while molecular dynamics reaction based simulation experience is desired.
Experience modelling Quantum Chemistry is required.
Experience with DFT simulations OR CFD for reaction network search is required.
Experience modelling atomic interactions and reactions with Molecular Dynamics software is desired.
Experience modelling Mesoscale and Coarse Grain simulation is desired.
Experience applying Monte Carlo simulation is desired.
Experience using LAMMPS software is desired.
Experience using Gaussian software and / or other DFT software is required.
Experience with scientific software development to extend existing software for custom simulation and analysis needs is required.
Knowledge of the semiconductor industry is desirable
Strong project management experience is required
Strong technical writing ability is required.
Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills are required.
Ability to execute tasks with minimal oversight is required.
Experience in coding with MATLAB, Python, Julia, R, etc. to solve technical problems is desired.
Education :
The candidate must have a PhD degree in Chemistry, Physics or equivalent field specializing in the area of computational Chemistry.
Degree program : Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics
Other key experience : Photolithography simulation experience, Metal Oxide Resist research experience
Skills :
Simulation experience : Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD), Finite Element Simulation experience(FEA) OR Density Functional Theory(DFT) and / or Molecular Dynamic.
Wet chemical modelling and simulation experience
